bodyOur house is up for sale and we are moving into our bus today. We have many things left to do to make this Tiny Home On Wheels complete in our eyes, but we are ready to jump in and move out of our traditional house. As happy as that makes us we wanted to take a moment to talk about a serious issue that we want to address. What many people see as a dream come true and an epic adventure is unfortunately the very real world for a lot of people. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, as of 2017 there were around 554,000 homeless people in the United States on any given night. And as the weather turns colder, there are many people who will suffer without a place to stay, a hot meal, or a warm place to sleep at night. Choosing to live a nomadic lifestyle and minimizing our worldly possessions seems to be a trend at the moment, there were many reasons why we chose it for ourselves and I am sure there are countless reasons why others choose it as well, but let us not forget that there are those that did not choose to be without a home, or a heater, or a shower, or means to a hot meal. I am reminded of a ride along I did as a Police Recruit prior to joining the Police Academy in 2009. Through the night of this ride along there had been a slight misting in the air and the temperature hovered around 40 degrees. We received a call that a "disturbed man" had called the police non emergency number. He stated he had been hearing voices and needed help. We were sent to help get him to the Psychological Rehabilitation Center. When we arrived we see a slender man, his hair a mess, and carrying a small torn backpack with a broken zipper. His belongings falling out, and him trying, frustrated, to put them back in. The officer I rode with asked him what was going on. He told us his situation and that he wanted to have a warm bed and a hot meal and asked if we could take him somewhere. There were 2 options. Either he could go to jail (the officer would make up a lesser charge to get him in) or he could go to the rehabilitation center a few blocks from the jail. He decided to go to jail for the night, he "didn't want to be around the crazies at 8th Street (the rehab center). During the ride to jail we talked to him. He was a veteran that had unfortunately come back from his deployment many years ago to a life that fell apart. Drinking was an everyday occurrence and soon after drug habits got a hold of him. He chose the actions that led to his own homelessness, he admitted that. There are many people living on the streets from their own doing and from situations outside of their control. We've met many, we've helped those we could and we want to continue helping. We've handed out clothes, sleeping bags, cold weather gear, personal health products and other things in Jacksonville in the past and we are doing the same with some of the items we are getting rid of to downsize. If you'd like to help the less fortunate we have set up a few tiers on our Patreon (link below) that you can donate to. Destoni crochets hats that we give to those less fortunate along the way. We also collect and distribute clothing, health and beauty bags, and shoes. We choose to give and to help and we hope that it makes a difference in the world we live in. As you spend the holidays with friends, family, and loved ones, remember that there are a lot of folks out there that could use a little help. A hug, a hot cup of cocoa, a warm meal, a homemade hat or even a hand me down jacket can bring joy and hope to so many others. Have a happy holiday season from Travis and Destoni at Sloth High Five. As happy as that makes us we wanted to take a moment to talk about a serious issue that we want to address.\n\nWhat many people see as a dream come true and an epic adventure is unfortunately the very real world for a lot of people. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, as of 2017 there were around 554,000 homeless people in the United States on any given night. And as the weather turns colder, there are many people who will suffer without a place to stay, a hot meal, or a warm place to sleep at night.\n\n\nChoosing to live a nomadic lifestyle and minimizing our worldly possessions seems to be a trend at the moment, there were many reasons why we chose it for ourselves and I am sure there are countless reasons why others choose it as well, but let us not forget that there are those that did not choose to be without a home, or a heater, or a shower, or means to a hot meal.\n\nI am reminded of a ride along I did as a Police Recruit prior to joining the Police Academy in 2009. Through the night of this ride along there had been a slight misting in the air and the temperature hovered around 40 degrees. We received a call that a \"disturbed man\" had called the police non emergency number. He stated he had been hearing voices and needed help. We were sent to help get him to the Psychological Rehabilitation Center. \n\nWhen we arrived we see a slender man, his hair a mess, and carrying a small torn backpack with a broken zipper. He decided to go to jail for the night, he \"didn't want to be around the crazies at 8th Street (the rehab center). \n\nDuring the ride to jail we talked to him. \n\nWe've handed out clothes, sleeping bags, cold weather gear, personal health products and other things in Jacksonville in the past and we are doing the same with some of the items we are getting rid of to downsize. \n\nIf you'd like to help the less fortunate we have set up a few tiers on our Patreon (link below) that you can donate to. Destoni crochets hats that we give to those less fortunate along the way. We also collect and distribute clothing, health and beauty bags, and shoes. We choose to give and to help and we hope that it makes a difference in the world we live in. \n\nAs you spend the holidays with friends, family, and loved ones, remember that there are a lot of folks out there that could use a little help. A hug, a hot cup of cocoa, a warm meal, a homemade hat or even a hand me down jacket can bring joy and hope to so many others. \n\n\nHave a happy holiday season from Travis and Destoni at Sloth High Five. \n\nPatreon Link --> https://www.patreon.com/SlothHighFive",

bodyThanks for the tips. I like the idea of living aboard a sailboat but I'm a little nervous of being on the water. We have talked about living in some other alternative homes after the bus. Maybe a yurt, maybe a container home, maybe a treehouse. The space saving ideas out there are fantastic, especially those found in boats. Thanks again.

bodyMy wife and I lived in a series of conventional houses, maxxing out in the late 90's around 2000 square feet. Then we moved onto a sailboat. We sold almost everything. We kept some clothes, old photographs, music recordings, tools, and a few kitchen implements. All the boat "furniture" was built in - no need to bring any of that stuff. No yard tools. No garage junk. We moved aboard in 1996 and lived aboard until the end of 2012. I think we have the "accumulate junk" tendency pretty well under control, but now that we live in a small house again, we have accumulated a bit of clutter again. When you are looking for space-saving ideas for a small house, check out the space-saving ideas from sailboats - the situation is a little different, of course, but on the other hand sailors have been dreaming up space-saving ideas for a lot longer than the current "tiny house" movement.

bodyIn our 20 or so years together Destoni and I have lived in some small spaces, from a studio apartment to a self built tiny house in an old portable building, we've lived in smaller spaces longer than larger ones. Our first apartment together was a 325 sq foot studio apartment on the southside of Jacksonville. Being young and not even married at the time we had very little to fill the space. A mattress on the floor, a sofa we had found somewhere were all that we really had for awhile. Living there wasn't the greatest but we did learn that smaller spaces are not too constrictive for us. After we left the apartment we moved into the upstairs unit of a home that had been converted to have an upper and lower unit for rent. Our landlord was an older woman and she had a man that lived with her that took care of the maintenance stuff. The upstairs was a 2 bedroom with kitchen, bath, and living room, but only about 420 sq feet. We stayed here for about 2 years. The spare bedroom turned into a storage room for all the "stuff" we were stuffing into our lives. Even in small spaces clutter creeps and storage is valuable real estate. We were offered the opportunity to move on to Destoni's parents property. Connected to but behind their garage they had a 10 x 36 foot portable building, the kind schools use as temporary classrooms. With their help we converted that space into a studio apartment. I think this is where we picked up the idea that we could build a home by ourselves. We had ripped the building down to the studs and rebuilt it and included a bathroom with shower/tub combo, toilet, sink, and a closet. Our living area was a studio set up with the kitchen, living room, and bedroom being open spaces with no walls between. Living small for so long didn't stop us from accumulating a lot more stuff. With our current house (For Sale by the way) we have 1640 sq feet with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. We have rooms full of things that we either didn't use any longer or had never used so we are selling a lot of stuff on eBay and Facebook Marketplace. We grew tired of the large space, much of which we just filled with "stuff". It is hard to leave this house though. It is our first home that we bought together. We had plans that never came to fruition and our outlook of life changed along the way. Transitioning to our bus space, somewhere around 200 sq feet, we had to, and still have to, minimize the clutter and "stuff" we've collected over the years. We designed and built with simplicity and comfort in mind primarily and that doesn't leave a lot of room for useless things. I think now knowing what we want out of our space and what kind of life we'd like to live, we know better how to utilize the space we have and not fill it in with useless junk or meaningless things. We have built our own tiny home once and we are well on our way of completing the skoolie tiny home of our dreams. It has been an insightful journey and educational experience purging things to make way for the incredible future in front of us. Learning what you want in a home is important. Living tiny requires a better understanding of your own wants and needs inside your space. The size of the space can also dictate your style and function. Some things we love about tiny homes is the endless customization and functionality concepts that goes into building one. There are incalculable ways to go about building your tiny space. Thanks for reading and let us know what have you learned to let go of in your pursuit for downsizing?

bodyThere are a lot of reasons people are choosing to downsize their lives and live tiny. We have multiple reasons. One of our tops reasons is the ability to get rid of the massive amount of debt we currently carry and to learn from the mistakes of our past with credit consumerism. According to the US Federal Reserve (which technically isn’t a federal department, and holds no reserves) the typical American household carries around $137,000 in total debts. While the median American income hovers around $59,000. Ourselves, we hold around $35,000 in credit card debt, a vehicle loan, and a traditional mortgage… Now, while our numbers are better than the averages, as our total debt isn’t $137,000 and our income is just a bit (barely) higher than the median, we still struggle with debt to income issues and increasing interests rates. We have, since the beginning of this project been more aware of where our credit is being spent and have been working to pay as much of it down as we can without adding much more to it. Because of how far in debt we are and the rising interest rates, minimum payments and our incomes staying relatively the same over the years, to stop using credit altogether is not feasible for us. But we have stopped using them for frivolities and filling our house with more stuff. That is one reason we are where we are and why we are building the bus. In order for us to get out from this massive debt we decided to build the bus into a tiny home and sell our traditional home. With the rise in housing values since we bought our home in 2011 we can pay off the outstanding mortgage and the total of our credit debts and still have a store of cash on hand to use to travel for a while and settle down when we find a place. Now we know this isn’t the case for a lot of folks, but if you are in this same situation I urge you to find some sort of financial counseling or help to eradicate the debt that you can and work towards financial freedom before starting your own conversion. It will help tremendously in the long run. Tiny living for us includes minimizing our debt for a better life on the road and afterwards.

bodyThis isn’t a story about how our life fell apart the moment we bought our bus, so sorry about the clickbaity title. This is actually a self-realization story about how our life has changed since we took on the challenge of converting our bus, downsizing our possessions and are searching for new life experiences. We’re not allowed to be lazy anymore. Typically, pre bus we would come home after a long day at work and would take a nap, or make some food and play video games. Maybe scroll FB, Twitter, Pinterest… Whatever social media distraction we could find and waste hours of our time on. Some days we were called to do yard work, or make repairs to the house, or just clean up the mess we had made the night before, but we didn’t do it with any further purpose. Now our routine has changed. After a hard days work we now come home with a list of things to do. Measure this, Cut that, Stain these, Mount that, Build this, Fix that… The list continues to dwindle and expand at the same rate. Our afternoons are spent working on the bus; or if we’re not working on the bus we’re working on the house we have for sale, if not that then we are finding things to list on FB marketplace and Craigslist, puling out things to sell at a yard sale, or throwing out things we don’t want and can’t sell. Our weekends are more working on the bus, trying to get as much done as we can in between the constant trips to the hardware stores and the looming work week ahead. Everything we do is in regards to our choice, our determination, to build this bus and leave the State of Florida this year. We aren’t allowed to waste money anymore… Before the bus we spent money on frivolous things; things we didn’t NEED; things that have now sat unused and unopened since we got them. We spent money going on trips to Disney (one of our favorite places). We spent money on seeing movies we really didn’t like. We spent money on going out to eat A LOT… this is still one we’re trying to get over. We dug ourselves into unsustainable debt and are now clawing our way out. We have taken to downsizing our possessions and get rid of everything we don’t either want to take on the bus or what we want to take to a new home when we get there. We had hard revelations that we had a cat we didn’t feel was a good fit for us anymore. We found a beautiful family for her and she is now loved more than we could have done in our circumstances. We have had to, and still are, going through our house and seeing all the mistakes we have made in the last 15 years of being the consumer without conscience that we’ve come recently to despise. We had to learn that these things, these cheap metal and cheaper plastic THINGS all over our house are not making us happy at all and what we crave are the experiences we have never had. Building this new tiny home on wheels hasn’t ruined our lives, it just ruined the old life that we were so used to. This experience has brought out so much in each of us. It has forced us to learn. It has forced us to be uncomfortable. It has forced us to work harder than we have in years. And it has forced us to reevaluate everything in our lives and what we want out of the years we have left. So again, sorry about the clickbaity title, I just hope some of these thoughts resonate with others and maybe help others feel that they aren’t the only one’s going through all the mental and physical hurdles that surround a life changing event such as this. Let us know in the comments if you’ve had similar feelings. What was the hardest thing to left go of? How hard was it to find yourself standing in the middle of a house so full of stuff but so damn empty? Sloth High Five.

"body": "This isn’t a story about how our life fell apart the moment we bought our bus, so sorry about the clickbaity title. This is actually a self-realization story about how our life has changed since we took on the challenge of converting our bus, downsizing our possessions and are searching for new life experiences.\n\nWe’re not allowed to be lazy anymore.\n\nTypically, pre bus we would come home after a long day at work and would take a nap, or make some food and play video games. Maybe scroll FB, Twitter, Pinterest… Whatever social media distraction we could find and waste hours of our time on. Some days we were called to do yard work, or make repairs to the house, or just clean up the mess we had made the night before, but we didn’t do it with any further purpose.\n\nNow our routine has changed. After a hard days work we now come home with a list of things to do. Measure this, Cut that, Stain these, Mount that, Build this, Fix that… The list continues to dwindle and expand at the same rate. bodyThe song Universal Soldier is to me one of the most iconic anti war songs that has ever been written. Buffy Sainte- Marie wrote the song in the early 1960's in the basement of The Purple Onion Coffee House in Toronto and released on her debut album "It's My Way" in 1964. The song's lyrics reflect on the idea that individual responsibility for war lies with the soldiers. The opening verse describes soldiers of different heights, different ages, different times of war, and finally how wars have been waged perpetually throughout human history. Though we are in different times and the tools of war have changed, that doesn't change the outcome of the atrocities perpatrated by these agents of death and destruction. "He's five feet two and he's six feet four He fights with missiles and with spears He's all of thirty-one and he's only seventeen He's been a soldier for a thousand years" ![images (4).jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVzUkegV28FDn43621H3C5jB3Phqm7K1yjrd8V3Q8mE6D/images%20(4).jpeg) The following verse Saint-Marie adds in the various faiths soldiers practice. Each one has its own scriptures against killing, excludng Atheism. She also writes that the fighting is perceived to be in the interest of each other, and of humanity as a whole. Religion has been the cause of war and the crutch some will cling to after they have acted in heinous ways, begging for repentance and savior. "He's a catholic, a Hindu, an Atheist, a Jane A Buddhist and a Baptist and Jew And he knows he shouldn't kill and he knows he always will You'll for me my friend and me for you" ![A-rebel-soldier-praying-b-017.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNyMFRzAq5wQvJbG7Kkn1o9L939szh9BbQVCWnoZGensr/A-rebel-soldier-praying-b-017.jpg) In the third verse she uses the allegience to and nationality of the soldiers and of the idea that war brings peace. Nationalism and allegience are hard concepts for people to ignore. Today's militarism continues for the same reasons, with increasing evidence that peace will never be won from war. "And he's fighting for Canada, he's fighting for France He's fighting for the usa And he's fighting for the Russians and he's fighting for Japan And he thinks we'll put an end to war this way" ![Lets+go+over+some+facts+shall+we+1+_01bea88f72d11808c696322d95816efc.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmdyY4wcSJ39XU1szE7jgqyWdXF6VfVPKoqE2bwRfmEYcC/Lets+go+over+some+facts+shall+we+1+_01bea88f72d11808c696322d95816efc.jpg) Following that is the verse, "And he's fighting for democracy he's fighting for the reds He says it's for the peace of all He's the one who must decide who's to live and who's to die And he never sees the writing on the wall" ![images (1).jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmT6mo9ieit81xDVNhmfVxTc95hsWkUHddnABdQCsjNWQ5/images%20(1).jpeg) This is to suggest that the reasoning for war on either side is the belief in the system of governance the soldier lives under and participates for. It also highlights the individual responsibility of the soldier for the actions he commits. Murder is no less murder in times of war. "And he never sees the writing on the wall", adds that sometimes these soldiers are blinded by patriotism, statism, and nationalism. Blinded enough to kill and die for. This next verse is my favorite because it shows that without those willing to follow orders the atrocities of war, and the lead up to war could have never taken place. A crazy or brutal man shouting orders is one thing, but unless he has followers to commit his brutality he is just a crazy man shouting crazy things. Without them the killing can't go on. "But without him how would Hitler have condemned him at Dachau Without him Caesar would have stood alone He's the one who gives his body as the weapon of the war And without him all this killing can't go on" ![Auschwitz-Birkenau-concentration-camp-6.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWrVWqFsY5gJjQc3h3GShvH6omTgZHZSvnEUx1fcxTGDE/Auschwitz-Birkenau-concentration-camp-6.jpg) This last verse shows the inescapeable truth that as an individual the blame for the inhumanity rests on the soldier who commits the acts of his commanders. Sometimes those commanders turn out being the politicians and generals, and sometimes they are the cheerleaders of war of the same nation or faith. "He's the universal soldier and he really is to blame But his orders come from far away no more They come from him and you and me and brothers can't you see This is not the way we put an end to war? ![images.jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVdDmwWtxahpyuoiaicTFgNDZm43gmY1FmLgMHHhcZSi6/images.jpeg) The anti war movement of the 1960's was incredible for the amount of activism it created, though the result was minimal in the real sense. Wars continue to be waged. Men, women, and children continue to kill and be killed for the ridiculous notion of nation states, nation building, religious supremacy and destructive greed. ![images (3).jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmdDbUYrCCNS8XX8Nx6HBphW4u6bXKTL4HhJsi7HpNiGjc/images%20(3).jpeg) Other notable singers have covered this song, including Glen Campbell, The Highwaymen, Chumbawamba, Aimee Allen. The most notable cover was recorded by the artist Donovan in 1965, bringing the song to a new height in popularity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6imjvgJFvM

bodySterlin, you say so eloquently what a lot of us have in our hearts and in our spirits. An end of war and war makers. As Buffy Sainte-Marie wrote in her 1964 song "Universal Soldier", "But without him How would Hitler have condemned him at Labau? Without him Caesar would have stood alone He's the one who gives his body As a weapon of the war And without him all this killing can't go on He's the universal soldier and he really is to blame His orders come from far away no more They come from here and there and you and me And brothers can't you see This is not the way we put an end to war. It is the soldiers as well as the politicians to blame for the carnage and inhumanity of war. It will end, one day, hopefully.

body![float-house-tank-blog-floating.jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNWobtKaYx3tYHqKXvr2tTJjXV8omPebm2iNeBLKdSFz6/float-house-tank-blog-floating.jpeg) I recently went in for another session of Sensory Deprivation Therapy. This was my 13th or so experience with the therapy. Sensory Deprivation Therapy is known by a few names; Perceptual Isolation, Restrictive Enviromental Stimulation Therapy (R.E.S.T.) and more widely known as Floating. It is a practice that has been around since 1954. The premise is quite simple. Here's a breakdown... *The isolation tank is partially filled with a high saline or salt concentrate allowing the body to float. The Epsom Salt is also benficial for the skin and muscles. *The water temperature is close to the natural temperature of the skin. *In order to get the full sensory deprivation effect the lid or door is closed (this is optional and can be progressed to) and the lights are turned off (also optional for beginners). *When the head is tilted back in the water the neck should go to a comfortable and joint relieving posistion; with this the water should cover the ears. This muffles the sound coming in. Using ear plugs helps silence any other noises that may be present. Normally your senses are constantly sending your brain signals, information, and your brain is constantly processing this information. When you remove those signals and information your brain is allowed to work through other things, to dive deeper into the true self of your body and not be concerned with the surroundings. This helps to relieve stress that has been lingering , it brings out mental hurdles you may have been hanging on to. Sensory Deprivation Therapy isn't a new idea. The first known uses were in 1954 during studies of the human body and brain function after a subject was deprived of their senses for different time periods. The wikipedia page describes the orgin as "The isolation tank was developed in 1954 by John C. Lilly, a medical practitioner and neuropsychiatrist.[1][2][3] During his training in psychoanalysis at the US National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Lilly experimented with sensory deprivation. After 10 years of experimentation without taking any psychoactive substances, he tried floating in combination with a psychedelic agent, mostly LSD (at that time LSD was legal in the United States)" via https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isolation_tank In 1980 the movie Altered States was released. It is a biographical dramatization that shows the work and processes of John C. Lilly in his quest to build and study the tanks as an alternative source of therpy. Recently TV shows such as Fringe, The Simpsons, and Stranger Things have featured isolation tanks and their effects. My experiences while in the float tanks have been amazing to myself. I have relieved a lot of stress and worked through some personal blockages that have been holding me back and dealt with some unresolved emotional issues. It is reccommended that first time "Floaters" go in without any expectations. One reason is to not trick the mind into false results. Another reason is to not underwhelm the user. Going in with the expectation to experience a level that others have had using this form of therapy, especially those who have undergone multiple sessions can leave the new user feeling shorted. I suggest at least 3 separate sessions, alternating the time periods inside, to fully understand the process and to immerse yourself into the very begining stages of what this therapy has to offer. If you'd like to see my wife and I talking about our reasons why we love Sensory Deprivation Therapy see our video linked below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wToD7T7RPCA&t=1s

bodyThere is a growing number of people turning old school buses, vans, and transport buses into mobile tiny homes. If you are one of these people you may have seen some of the many articles out there and many, many videos on YouTube with lists of things you will need to complete your tiny home adventure and enjoy your time travelling. Those articles and videos typically center around things like Tools, Tips and Tricks, and Advice on how to do things. Tools are important, and it’s always nice to learn a trick or two to make the job a little bit easier (or done the right way). But there is more to building your dream home and living the nomadic lifestyle than just a list of tools and advice from others. This is a list of 3 equally important things you will need if you are looking to finish your project and become one of the hundreds of people choosing the nomadic lifestyle. The best part is they are all totally free. That’s right, completely FREE! People are building school buses and van conversions for a myriad of reasons. Some just want to escape the mundane everyday life that has become tired and beaten, they seek new adventures. Others seek this way of life for an economical reason; living nomadic can have some beneficial points money wise. There are as many reasons as there are people. Whatever your reason to start on your build or travel the world in your mobile tiny home there may come some unforeseen circumstances and issues that will stop you in your tracks. Setbacks happen and not everything can be bulletproof from issues. Mistakes can happen, and we need to know how to recognize those mistakes and mitigate them or let them pass and be okay with them. Despite the many reasons and circumstances, you must have the determination to continue in the face of those adversities. The first thing you need to have is the determination to finish. You need tenacity. ![tenacity.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWv2Y2vdFFYh8FHjiiztKNNcqP2MVpWxeKjEGbCoZzYaF/tenacity.jpg) In our own build we came upon some issues with our electrical system that kept us from being able to start the engine. Our batteries were loosing their power and we couldn’t figure out why. Despair started to creep in. Did we just buy a broken bus? Is this how our dream dies? We never stopped moving forward. When the bus wouldn’t start we set out to start other projects. We began the next steps in building our home. The subfloor and insulation went in and we had no idea if we would even get to drive it. We had hope, and determination. We called in the professionals who were able to diagnose the issue and we resolved it without too much more trouble. There is a parasitic draw on our batteries, so we installed an external battery disconnect switch which keeps our batteries power levels from dwindling while we are finishing the build out. We knew from the beginning that there could be issues like this and we kept cool heads about the whole thing, not allowing that doubt to set in far enough to stop us or drain our resolve to complete what we have started. Now saying that there may be issues and problems that come up sounds like it goes against the next thing on my list. The best thing about the is next one is that it can be (should be) applied to life in general. It is a hard one to accomplish sometimes but I can tell you it makes a world of difference. The second item on this list is to remain positive throughout the building process and into the journey you are making for yourself. Life gets in the way sometimes. Things don’t always go to plan and sometimes things fall apart very quickly around us. ![positive thought.jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRqte8wxXd6AeYHDnedMvDJeo73wERWUfrwzhmVw3csJT/positive%20thought.jpeg) But, keeping a positive attitude will help you resolve to see this through to the end. Keeping a clear head in the midst of chaos -Yes, there will be chaos- will enable you to work through the problems quicker and with much less frustration. When we hit that wall of bad circumstances and it seems like everything is on hold we like to find the positives in the situation. Recently we put our traditional home up for sale. The first two weeks we didn’t hear a thing from our realtor. A few showings took place, an offer was placed and we countered, they declined on the counter and moved on. We have had very few showings since and more than once have had a showing scheduled only for it to be cancelled. We found that disheartening but remained committed that the right person or family will come along at the right time and everything will work out, and if not we will readjust come September (that is my soft deadline for completion). You can also try listening to positive thought speeches and lessons online. I (Travis) prefer Alan Watts and my wife Destoni enjoys Abraham Hicks. Both of them have a message of positivity, turning bad emotions or thoughts into good emotions or thoughts. I would also recommend Sensory Deprivation Therapy (Floating). See our video on this subject on YouTube by clicking here. This last one may also seem counter to the other 2 but it has a lot of benefits and it does compliment the others, if your mindset is right. Be okay with failure. ![failure.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVvK6AqSZZo4N9rmL2B5qhtAkTLB1VCFoNjzZi2HEsEvX/failure.jpg) No one is an expert at all things. No one can go through life without a single failure. Not a single bus converter or van dweller out there hasn’t experienced failure at some point. Go ahead ask around… I’ll wait. failure.jpg Whether the failure comes in the form of materials not working as you want them, mechanical issues, time management, execution of the plans not working out right, or any number of reasons, being okay with these failures doesn’t mean give up. It is realizing that the failure has a reason and that reason can be rectified. Sometimes the best course is to step away for a little while to clear your head, or consult with someone who knows more on the ways the project should go together, maybe grab a few friends and figure things out with them. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Most of our failures come from a lack of knowledge on things like plumbing and woodworking. So we take more time researching how to do things than the job usually takes. These failures are being slowly diminished by learning and doing. Whether or not you will be living full-time in your bus or van, travelling around the world or just using your tiny home as a vacation camper these 3 free things will help along in the process. These tools will help beyond hammers and screwdrivers and their payoff is greater than any tips or tricks to getting the process done quickly. They all play off of one another to create a better equipped you. We all have in our ability to keep a positive attitude, remain committed to the goal and to accept the failures and faults that we have or will be confronted with. No one ever said this would be easy. But we all know you can do it. Sloth High Five. bodyIn the State of Florida there are 3 requirements that one must choose from in order to re-title a school bus as a Motorhome. 1. Install LP gas system for cooking or heating. 2. Install plumbing for some kind of running water. 3. Install a 110v outlet. Of those three we decided to install a 110v outlet. We chose to go this route because it would be the easiest, the least expensive, and we couldn't quite place where our plumbing or LP lines should go at the time, but we could install the outlet without much trouble. Destoni actually did all the work herself (applause). We went with a Hubbel Taymac brand outdoor covered box and a Hubbel 15 amp 3-wire grounding plug. That plug allows us to plug in an extension cord and get power to the one Legrand GFCI outlet on the inside. Hooking up the Romex between the grounding plug and the inside oulet was a simple task. We then secured it all to a wall panel. Now all of this is temporary to get the title work done. It will be removed and the components will be used in other places, but this was our simple setup to satisfy the State. One note about the DMV as well; They did NOT do an inspection of the unit, not even an inspection of the bus at all. That may vary between States and Counties, but for us it was a simple affidavit. You can see how we did this in the video below and if you have any questions or comments we would love to hear from you. We also have an Instagram account where you can see daily pics of what is going on as well as exclusive content. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpstRx-B5zc&t=2s&list=PLlP211eR6kgRNEypUXLlv3qnDYWKhH_Us&index=19
