Seems like they are going to have to tighten the monetary policy soon, but I don't think they have figured out how to overt the disaster that occure when they do.\n\nI know the midterm elections are hanging in the balance here. Trump and everyone else knows it too. It is a big powerful tool that many factions would like to use.\n\nI am not completely sure who will win the fight to control that tool.\n\nCorporations are upset about tariffs. The Fed wants to remain in control of the money(shift the blame for a big mess). Is trump Fed/corporate friendly?       "body": "Hey Greg, \n\nJust a thought. There is a bunch of economic data coming out this week. I assume from all the pumping in the stock and bond market that the data is not going to be good. Here are some headlines:\n\nChicago Fed index points to paused U.S. economic growth in January\n\nNew-home sales collapse in January as momentum wavers\n\nAt the sometime, several big banks are close to insolvency. Deutsche Bank is very close if not insolvent now, they hold some of the largest positions in derivatives.\n\nInterbank loans are way down. Do they know that it is not safe to loan to each other?\n\nChina has taken Ambang(an insurer) into conservatorship and arrested the former chairman. They are in big trouble. Think what happened with AIG.\n\nBig pension funds are almost insolvent. Calpers is in trouble and to fix their short falls they are moving into the equity market to help improve their financial position with higher yields.\n\nTalk about systemic risk... The stock market can not go down any more. If it does the big the big boys will feel a big pinch. If any of them start to liquidate their positions, the feedback loop will take over and end in a spiral to the bottom.\n\nThey have to push it higher, the alternative is unthinkable.\n\n(PS I am sort the S&P right now, so them moving the markets up don't work well for me.)",

      "body": "Just a thought. There is a bunch of economic data coming out this week. I assume from all the pumping in the stock and bond market that the data is not going to be good. Here are some headlines:\n\nChicago Fed index points to paused U.S. economic growth in January\n\nNew-home sales collapse in January as momentum wavers\n\nAt the sometime, several big banks are close to insolvency. Deutsche Bank is very close if not insolvent now, they hold some of the largest positions in derivatives. \n\nInterbank loans are way down. Do they know that it is not safe to loan to each other?\n\nChina has taken Ambang(an insurer) into conservatorship and arrested the former chairman. They are in big trouble. Think what happened with AIG.\n\nBig pension funds are almost insolvent. Calpers is in trouble and to fix their short falls they are moving into the equity market to help improve their financial position with higher yields. \n\nTalk about systemic risk... The stock market can not go down any more. If it does the big the big boys will feel a big pinch. If any of them start to liquidate their positions, the feedback loop will take over and end in a spiral to the bottom.\n\nThey have to push it higher, the alternative is unthinkable. \n\n(PS I am sort the S&P right now, so them moving the markets up don't work well for me.)",

While I believe there was a lot of manipulation to make it look like a good bounce, I am not convinced.\n\nThe underlying problems in the market are still in place. I am watching bonds selling again. Cryptos are selling off again. Asia is mixed and not bouncing very high either. \n\nGold and silver are starting to move up...a little.\n\nThere is huge leverage in the market. When the margin called start coming in, we could see very ugly cascade.",
