The new product is aimed at establishing over-the-counter (OTC) and digital asset exchanges. Partners will also be able to use the order integration and wallet systems, as well as the asset management and clearing system of the Huobi Global platform. Leon Li, Chairman of Huobi Group, commented on the launch:</p>\n<blockquote><em>“In this era of significant and strong adoption of blockchain technologies, Huobi is looking to share its expertise and experience with the entire blockchain ecosystem and through this, develop the industry further to achieve mutual benefits for all stakeholders.”</em></blockquote>\n<p>According to the statement, Huobi Cloud comprises of four approaches, including exchange, OTC, operational, and eco-system solutions. The exchange solution supports exchange platform publishing, token-related services, hot and cold wallet separation, a risk-trigger mechanism, and other services. The OTC solution verifies the authenticity of the trading of fiat currencies like U.S.dollars, Hong Kong dollars, Chinese yuan, and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT).Founded in 2013, Huobi is currently the world’s third largest cryptocurrency exchange in terms of trade volume, with offices in Singapore, the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong. At the end of June, the company partnered with JD Cloud, a subsidiary of China's largest online retailer JD Group, to explore blockchain technology applications and cloud computing, focusing on financial services, Internet of Things (IoT), and supply chain fields.In June, Huobi also announced the launch of its new public blockchain, the Huboi Chain Project (HCP). In addition, they pose risks to investors that buying bitcoin directly does not.</strong>An ETF is basically a collection of assets which can be bought and sold on an exchange much like traditional assets. Therefore, for someone to issue an ETF, they must hold the asset. This means that if large financial institutions want to start offering BTC ETFs, they will necessarily have to buy a lot of bitcoin.This sounds great, as it will obviously drive up the price, but there's a catch. By definition, people trading ETFs are <em>not</em> trading bitcoin, they're trading shares of a portfolio that is based upon bitcoin. The bitcoin itself is essentially in a vault (cold storage wallet or such) somewhere. Since bitcoin has a limited supply, and already most people sit on it (HODL) more than they spend it, it could definitely lead to bitcoin becoming much more like a commodity than a currency.To some, this is not a problem. In fact many feel this is the natural path for bitcoin. Others point out this is not exactly in line with the vision laid out in Satoshi Nakamoto's whitepaper</ins>, clearly stating the intent for bitcoin to be a form of currency.The other, more individual risk coming from ETFs is the fact that because the investor doesn't actually hold bitcoin, they are subject to additional factors affecting their investment. Basically, the institution(s) that issue the ETF are open to various issues such as mismanaging the bitcoin, failing to provide proper security for their bitcoin, or even going out of business.It is unclear how these risks will be mitigated as BTC ETFs begin to rise, but it looks like they are on the horizon. Hut 8 revealed that this operation was completed two months ahead of its September 2018 deadline, as a result of their “employees hard work” and help from third-party entities.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;With these new installations, Hut 8 now operates 40 BlockBox datacenters in Medicine Hat and 17 in the nearby city of Drumheller, with each of these datacenters requiring 1.2 MW of electricity at full power.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;According to the firm, 66.7 MW of energy of “fully-funded operating power” can output a staggering 487.5 petahashes&nbsp;per second. Andrew Kiguel, President, and CEO of Hut 8 gave a statement regarding the new facility and state of his company, noting:</p>\n<blockquote>&nbsp;With 66.7 MW of aggregate operating capacity, we believe we are the largest cryptocurrency miner in Canada and the largest publicly-traded cryptocurrency miner by operating capacity in the world.&nbsp;</blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;Despite seeing Bitcoin prices fall by nearly 70% since the start of the year, and mining profits fall even further, Hut 8 still has managed to procure nearly 1,900 Bitcoin since the launch of the firm in December. At current market values, Hut 8’s Bitcoin stash totals to a value of over $14.1 million U.S. dollars.It has become apparent that BitFury, one of Bitmain’s main competitors, was integral to the success of the company, who provided Hut 8 with powerful mining hardware and essential services. The so-called ‘BlockBoxes’ are reported to output a total of 9 petahashes/second, easily outperforming a majority of other ASIC facilities.</p>\n<h2><strong>Hut 8’s Publicly Traded Shares Jump 15%&nbsp;</strong></h2>\n<p>Hut 8 raised $108 million Canadian dollars from two separate financings at an earlier&nbsp;date last year.
