| title | Votedave, hello |
| body | Hi, I am votedave, a survivor from a past era when people believed in the power of a pencil mark on a piece of paper. Since 1985 I've been sending out regular posts across the planetary network of the internet promoting the age of Digital Democracy. In that time I have watched as the awareness has grown from a few keen academics and individuals who sort to define a vision and the means, to the growing tsunami that's about to sweep politicians from their profitable purchase on power. DLT /blockchain is the final piece in the puzzle and now we wait for the evolutionary imperative to work through the many parallel and competing offers and deliver to us the open, uniform, secure platform which liberates us all from the tyranny of corporate party rule and opens the world to a dynamic and deliberative future of decision making. I am not a starry eyed optimist - the reality is that we will collectively make decision every bit as bad as those made by our representative parliaments, my hope is that our shared common humanity and the empathy (cooperation ) delivers us from our evil with the decision of a vote that reverses a bad choice and addresses the damage. I am Australian based, my efforts in bringing about Democracy are as follows: 1. votedave - a political entity created in 2000 as part of campaign to bring digital democracy to the West Australian parliament through direct democratic representation of a constituency. Registration rules allowed candidates to run under a name they were known by in the community, we became Daves (Digital, Analogue Vote Enablers ; ). A means of creating a common political identity without the overhead and problems associated with political parties. The url votedave dot org was captured by parties unknown and is now parked and unreachable promoting some obscure knife retailer. 2. pollee.org - an interim extension of the votedave concept with the inclusion of a viable voting system based on financial transactions. http://www.pollee.org.au/ https://app.democracyos.org/wa# 3. Online Direct Democracy Party - Australia's first and oldest direct democracy political party - Frustrated with the crushing lack of finance and visibility I joined in the national effort to get representatives elected in the 2016 Federal election. http://www.onlinedirectdemocracy.org/ https://www.facebook.com/ODDWAPerth/ While the effort to promote DD remains ODD has hit the same snag many such organisations have - that of a common, secure, easily accessed and usable platform to host discussions and polls on the issues we must deliberate on. With the advent of Block chain we are witnessing the second major evolutionary development with many exciting projects such as Steem bringing the promise of Democracy to reality. As a basic list I offer the following core streams I'm following: 1. http://democracy.earth/ 2. https://horizonstate.com/ (mivote) 3. https://www.secure.vote/ (Flux) This is by no means a definitive list and is geographically weighted to local developments, I encourage anyone reading this piece to contribute links on projects they are following or participant in - feel free to contact me via Steem or [email protected] or via FB. Finally, I call on every one of you to start to hold our media to account in their lazy use of the word Democracy. With very few exceptions there are no Democracies. Every system in place is a qualified Democracy, Australia labours under the delusion we have a Representative Democracy based on the Westminster System - it is neither democratic or representative of the constituents. Every organisational structure, bar our systems of government, have had to evolve with the implementation of ubiquitous digital communications technology, the time for exceptions is at an end. Our governments now represent the single greatest existential threat to human (all life) existence on this planet. It is your choice as to whether this continues or we evolve, as is our destiny. Thanks for your time & considerations. |
