If you &nbsp;miss being able to just rest your finger on the Touch ID-enabled Home &nbsp;button to unlock it, you can bring that back:</p>\n<ol>\n  <li>Head to Settings &gt; General &gt; Accessibility &gt; Home Button.</li>\n  <li>Enable Rest Finger to Unlock.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>Your phone will now unlock when you rest your finger on the Home button, no press of the button required.</p>\n<p>Turn Off the Ability to Reply to Messages from the Lock Screen</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--ykhc2vsN--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/d43niwv8al1bimvwtb4k.png\" width=\"800\" height=\"335\"/></p>\n<p>If you’re concerned about privacy and you’re not a fan of <a href=\"http://lifehacker.com/how-to-make-sense-of-ios-10s-new-lock-screen-1786541529\">how easy it is to reply to text messages</a> from the lock screen, you can disable that feature entirely:</p>\n<ol>\n  <li>Open Settings &gt; Touch ID &amp; Passcode.</li>\n  <li>Enter your passcode.</li>\n  <li>Scroll down to “Reply with Message” and set the toggle to Off.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>You will no longer be able reply to messages on the lock screen, &nbsp;which should help with initial privacy concerns. It’s worth noting here &nbsp;that you can do a <em>lot more</em> from the new lock screen’s rich &nbsp;notifications these days, so be careful with which apps have &nbsp;notifications enabled. If you’re not comfortable with someone &nbsp;potentially interacting with an app from the lock screen, don’t let &nbsp;notifications show up there.</p>\n<p>In my tests, when “Reply with Message” was disabled, I just plain &nbsp;didn’t get notifications for a lot of third-party apps. I assume this is &nbsp;because those apps haven’t been updated yet, so keep an eye out for &nbsp;updates in the App Store.</p>\n<p>Disable Raise to Wake</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--ZFD-PZOC--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/ifu4bapibqnanav4k22u.png\" width=\"800\" height=\"283\"/></p>\n<p>Raise to Wake automatically lights up your screen when you pick up your &nbsp;phone, but it’s not for everyone. If it annoys you, or lights up too &nbsp;often or at the wrong times, it’s easy to disable, though the toggle is &nbsp;in a weird spot:</p>\n<ol>\n  <li>Head to Settings &gt; Display &amp; Brightness.</li>\n  <li>Uncheck the “Raise to Wake” setting.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>You can then return to the old way of tapping a button to turn on your screen.</p>\n<p>Clear Out Spotlight Search Results</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--1tgIPnaL--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/xc7tu209pwuzz8nq8nqf.png\" width=\"800\" height=\"403\"/></p>\n<p>For some reason, Spotlight likes to save your search keywords so when you pull down the search menu you get a list of <em>everything</em> &nbsp;you’ve searched for. There’s no apparent way to delete these results. &nbsp;If you’re not a fan of this odd and potentially embarrassing behavior, &nbsp;you can disable it:</p>\n<ol>\n  <li>Head to Settings &gt; General &gt; Spotlight Search.</li>\n  <li>Uncheck the box next to Siri Suggestions.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>This disables the app suggestions in Spotlight as well, but at least &nbsp;it removes the cache of keywords. The “Siri App Suggestions” will still &nbsp;show up on the lock screen though.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--M8OtV8fq--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/rg3rmwcd2jvas5x6hmbn.png\" width=\"800\" height=\"392\"/></p>\n<p>Messages now has the iMessages App Store, where you can add special &nbsp;Messages-specific mini-apps and stickers. On top of those, regular old &nbsp;apps can add their own custom iMessage extensions.</p>\n<p>For example, popular apps like Yelp and OpenTable both have iMessage &nbsp;extensions that allow you to search for restaurants right from within &nbsp;Messages. This is great, but unfortunately the default setting in iOS 10 &nbsp;is to add these extensions automatically without your approval. This &nbsp;quickly makes a mess of your Messages. It’s easy to toggle this off:</p>\n<ol>\n  <li>Open Messages and tap the arrow icon &gt; Apps.</li>\n  <li>Tap the four circles icon in the bottom left, then the Store icon.</li>\n  <li>Tap the Manage tab.</li>\n  <li>Toggle “Automatically Add Apps” to Off.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>Now, you’ll need to manually add the apps you want to use. You can do so &nbsp;in the same menu screen, just go through and set the toggles to On for &nbsp;the apps you want to appear in Messages.</p>\n<p>Turn Off Safari’s Autofill for Contact Info and Email Addresses</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--32dExFn5--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/r2ofb2xz3ogtjxxxmxgw.png\" width=\"800\" height=\"382\"/></p>\n<ol>\n  <li>Safari now includes a special QuickType-esque keyboard that offers &nbsp;suggestions for personal information when you fill out forms. This is &nbsp;handy for some people, but gets in the way for others. You can disable &nbsp;this:Tap Settings &gt; Safari &gt; AutoFill.</li>\n  <li>Toggle Use Contact Info, Names and Passwords, and Credit Cards to Off (or just toggle whichever ones you don’t want to show up).</li>\n</ol>\n<p>Safari will no longer offer suggestions to fill out forms for you.</p>\n<p>Disable Reduce Motion If Message Effects Aren’t Working</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--9zM1mkG6--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/ogeetjxwmnnq0xnjrcoa.png\" width=\"800\" height=\"392\"/></p>\n<p><a href=\"http://lifehacker.com/how-to-master-the-new-messages-app-in-ios-10-1786543589\">If you’re playing around with the new Messages app</a> &nbsp;and you can’t open the effects panel (long or hard-press the send &nbsp;button after typing a message), then there’s a good chance you have the &nbsp;accessibility setting, Reduce Motion, enabled. In order to get those &nbsp;animations back, you’ll need to turn off Reduce Motion:</p>\n<ol>\n  <li>Head to Settings &gt; Accessibility &gt; Reduce Motion.</li>\n  <li>Set the Reduce Motion toggle to Off.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>Doing so should allow you to pull up the Message effects window.</p>\n<p>Remove the Dictation Button (Again)</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--PL6QE_LQ--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/gewlrsnelbbs0uqkuayt.png\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\"/></p>\n<p>For some reason, it seems like some of us <a href=\"http://lifehacker.com/get-rid-of-the-microphone-button-on-the-iphone-keyboard-1770720054#_ga=1.5073723.968941705.1436971740\">who’ve disabled the dictation button</a> &nbsp;are running into a bug where it reappears after iOS 10 is installed. The reward given is the steem &nbsp;currency. Content on the site is not limited to digital currencies and &nbsp;users have posted varied topics from lasagne to a trip to North Africa.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;“It’s basically an incentivized social media platform,” said &nbsp;Steemit’s chief executive, Ned Scott, in an interview. The steem &nbsp;currency’s price on Tuesday was $1.75, equivalent to a market cap of &nbsp;$151.8m. That is the value of the 81.6m steems in circulation. On 4 &nbsp;July, when Steemit first paid users with steem for their content, the &nbsp;currency’s value was only $13m, according to Scott.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;Of the 657 digital currencies tracked by price index site Coinmarket, &nbsp;Steem is the fifth-largest in terms of market cap. Digital currencies &nbsp;have gained broad appeal among investors as a mechanism to transfer &nbsp;assets without a third party or clearing agency.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Users who get the steem currency can then exchange it for bitcoin &nbsp;within the platform. They can use their bitcoin to pay for services or &nbsp;goods or hold them as an investment.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Steemit is similar to social media website Reddit and Facebook in &nbsp;the way it operates, encouraging users to post and share content. &nbsp;However, Steemit is also powered by blockchain, the underlying &nbsp;technology that anchors digital currencies such as bitcoin.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;The new social media website was launched on an experimental basis without the rewards on 4 May. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;“There were many, many people looking at this project, several &nbsp;hundreds of users per day,” said Scott. “And when they experienced that &nbsp;first payout on 4 July, they bought something for their mother, they &nbsp;paid debt.
