The highly polluting ones should be put out of production and make available the ones that emit less smoke and thereby leaving lesser footprints.\n\n**Economic impact following ban**\n\nThe Apex Court order has hammered firecracker manufacturers to the wall leaving them dazed about the situation that they are in. The total loss incurred in Rupees is estimated to be 1,000 crores and they can not afford to lose so much.\n\nThe Supreme Court order on the ban has taken the cities by storm as the industry was not given prior intimation. Only if the order had been given atleast a month in advance, several of Indian resources (packaging, printing, paper, elements that make a firecracker and of course human) could have been put to better use.\n\n**Are we inching towards better air quality?**\n\nPerhaps yes, But this is just the beginning. The day we use our fossil fuels judiciously, we can achieve progress towards a cleaner, greener atmosphere.\n\nSure enough, we have to await the results of this year’s AQI tests to turn a new leaf.\n\nIf you love your country, don’t put it up in smoke. No one in any country would like to wake up to an environment that looks like nuclear winter.",
