This is the first of a number of interviews I did throughout the day. \\r\\n\\r\\nTommy Robinson is the person I would call the British Establisments 'Emmanuel Goldstein', and the media have villified him for years. This is par for the course in politics across the world right now, where Ad hominem attacks on individuals is the way that debate goes, rather than listening to and discussing the message that is being delivered. \\r\\n\\r\\nLet me explain and provide the context to this: \\r\\n\\r\\nTommy Robinson was on trial for contempt of court. His 'crime' was to stand outside a court filming a group of men who groomed and gang raped children over a sustained period of time. They had been bailed (yes, unbelieveably they were let out instead of being remanded, and one of them did in fact abscond and has therefore never faced justice) were re-entering the court. The jury was out, and therefore his livestream could not influence them. He asked them how they felt about their sentences and livestreamed it on YouTube. He reported information which was already in the public domain.\\r\\n\\r\\nThis is something the media does every single day. Every journalist for every publication both online and offline has done this. The difference is that \\r\\n\\r\\nHe was arrested outside the court, driven to court himself, tried, convicted and sentenced to 13 months in prison in the space of 5 hours, something which is almost unheard of. \\r\\n\\r\\nWhilst in prison, he was moved from a relatively 'safe' prison to one where his life was under constant threat from some of the inmates. He spent weeks in solitary confinement, unable even to eat the food prepared for him, because of the risk of it being contaminated. He left prison having lost an unhealthy amount of weight, and suffering from post traumatic stress from his time inside. In pretty much every democratic jurisdiction in the world, this would be tantamount to cruel and unusual punishment. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe Attourney General later found the conviction to be unsafe, and he was released. A few months after though, he was told he would be re-tried, and this time additional charges were added on, the most notable of which was that he may have caused alarm and distress to the convicted Paedophiles who tortured and raped children. \\r\\n\\r\\nIn the court, it was agreed that there were no reporting restrictions on the original trial. His defence barristers even pointed out that the Justice departments own website made it quite clear that it was not a crime to film these men. There were no reporting restrictions on the grooming gang case, and if there were, none of the required procedures were followed by the court. \\r\\n\\r\\nDespite what appears to be the flimsiest of evidence, Tommy Robinson was convicted by 2 judges, one of which was the former head of chambers of the Prosecution counsel. He was not given the luxury of a Jury trial by his peers. The Old Bailey is the most notorious court in the land. It is where the most heinous of cases are tried. On the day that he was being tried for contempt of court, in courtroom number 2, every other single trial at the time was a murder or a terrorism charge. \\r\\n\\r\\nHe will be sentenced on July 11th, less than a week after the trial, with no time allowed for pre-sentence reports on his mental health, and could go to prison for up to 2 years. \\r\\n\\r\\nOutside the court, hundreds of supporters, with an average age of about 50 gathered during the 2 day trial, and I was there filming it.\\r\\n\\r\\nYou might ask why. The reason is simple: \\r\\n\\r\\nTommy Robinson was on trial for doing the very things that journalists do every day. In fact, they did it to him every time he left the building, surrounding him and asking him the very same questions he has now been convicted of. \\r\\n\\r\\nWhether you support Tommy Robinson or not, whether you believe in his cause, whether you even like him or loath him, a very very dangerous precedent has been set. This precedent means that the freedom of citizens to act as journalists without the correct credentials, and even potentially ALL journalists are in danger of arrest and incarceration for reporting factual stories which happen to be inconvenient to the government narrative. \\r\\n\\r\\nYou might compare this with Orwell's 1984, where history is deleted and replaced with the government sanctioned and sanitised version of events, where an individual is turned into a devil when they express their views, and where it is not allowed to hold the powers that be to account. \\r\\n\\r\\nBritain is the home of free speech. You might argue that our culture invented it. So this story is too big not to be told. \\r\\n\\r\\nWithout freedom of speech, we have no freedom, and this sets us on the path to tyranny. \\r\\n\\r\\nI believe in Free Speech. I believe the right to speak your mind is important, and holds the powerful to account. The case was extraordinary because Tommy Robinson is widely regarded as the enemy of the British state. He was convicted of contempt of court for livestreaming outside the trial of Muslim men involved in torturing and raping hundreds of children over a prolonged period of time in the North of England. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe trial was contraversial because not only had his original conviction been overturned by the Attourney General in 2018, but this was a retrial with additional charges, which included causing alarm, harrasment or distress to men who were convicted paedophiles....by asking them how they felt about their upcoming sentences. This incidentally was something which the mainstream media repeatedly did to him during his trial.\\r\\n\\r\\nWhether you are a supporter of Tommy Robinson or not, this trial was probably one of the most important cases relating to freedom of speech in decades, and it has caused a great deal of outrage in Britain as it does somewhat look like the British establishment and the court system have applied the law extremely unfairly. \\r\\n\\r\\nWhen mainstream news outlets have previously caused high profile cases to collapse (notably the case of Levi Bellfield, the killer of schoolgirl Millie Dowler) they were given small fines. In fact, in almost 100 years, no reporter has been sent to prison for anything like this...until now. \\r\\n\\r\\nIn this case Tommy Robinson was reporting on a group of child rapists, and despite clear failings of processes relating to reporting restrictions not being published correctly, he was convicted in the highest court in the land (one reserved normally for the most heinous of crimes, not contempt hearings, which are actually civil proceedings) and sent to one of the most dangerous prisons in the UK, where he will more than likely spend his time again in solitary confinement because the risk to his life by Jihadi gangs who are well known to 'run the prison'. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis trial as a whole, and especially the sentence, is unprecedented, and his supporters have no doubt that this was a political trial, simply because this was Tommy Robinson, the enemy of the state. \\r\\n\\r\\nHundreds of people turned up to the court for the trial, and subsequent conviction, with some scuffles with riot police after both the verdict and the sentence. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis interview with Ezra Levant was filmed with his consent for both his own channel Rebel Media and 3Speak. He had told me previously that they were doing a hatchet job on him, and I decided to come along and see for myself. \n\nI took copious notes all day, and wrote pretty much everything down that I could, in my own scrawling shorthand, which to be honest when I came to check the notes later, was a little like trying to read a doctors prescription note whilst sat on a bucking bronco. \n\nAnyway, the point here is that what I saw in the court room was somewhat misrepresented by the British press. And what was very interesting was that this made pretty much EVERY national news outlet in the UK, and even made it into small local newspapers serving towns and cities all across the country. \n\nThe question is, with literally hundreds of common assaults taking place every day, why did this get so much media attention? Could it be that James Goddard says things that the establishment don't like? Could it be that he's gained quite a lot of support amongst the northern British working class? Or maybe that he's taken on far leftist groups like Hope Not Hate? \n\nAnd of course, the court of twitter exploded with the opinions of people who weren't there. In fact, the only people who really know what happened on that day were the 20 or so people who were actually present in the courtroom. In fact, the only people who really know what happened on that day were the 20 or so people who were actually present in the courtroom. I was there, and filmed it all. \r\n\r\nWhilst it was certainly true that it was noisy, and a few barriers were kicked, it is also a fact that the City of London police pulled out their batons and started striking people who they decided were too close to the barriers. \r\n\r\nI saw one Beer can thrown at the courthouse (not at any police officers) and I am informed the person who did that was later arrested. It is worth noting that throught the whole day, I only saw a handful of people drinking any alcohol at all. \r\n\r\nWhat you will see which was not reported was supporters of Tommy Robinson asking the crowd to calm it all down, and turn their backs on the police, thus not giving them a valid reason to strike anyone.
