      "body": "The past year brought many interesting developments overshadowed by the looming bear market. Many tapped out of the market without realizing the advancements in the Distributed Ledger Technology. Corporations like Cisco revealed they and other multinational corporations are beyond blockchain testing and ready to begin implementation. Major endowments funds, such as Yale, incorporating cryptocurrencies as a new asset investment class.  These and many other advancements are signs that infrastructure build-out continues in the crypto space.\n\nSo, here are my incremental hopes for 2019 developments that have a great chance for visible success.\n\n<h4>5. We did notice the effort and time dedicated acquiring unique items, skins, and weapons. We also noticed players did not truly own those items. Game programmers could change the rules, take away items, or manipulate the value metrics at any point. So, if we can rally demand from the grass roots to incorporate NFTs into gaming platforms and even allow items to exist outside the platform of origination, a cryptocurrency value explosion will occur.\n![Fortnite.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbE668SWuVQ7kFGhi9x8igoNETW2eax6B2vbRZNbkjKcW/Fortnite.png)\n\nI’m excited about [WAX’s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=zRKSNTHZ3KA) and [Enjin’s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCeg_i782f0) advancements on this front, and [Mythical Games](https://mythical.games/) raised over $16 Million in a series A round for game development on the EOS platform. Not only are NFTs strictly dedicated to gaming but also art. A close cousin to the gaming world are artists’ creations presented and sold as NFTs. A unique cryptographic hash can be added to visual or auditory compositions. An artist can be compensation for their one-of-a-kind, limited edition, or mass produced works. They can even earn royalties from each resell of their NFT items. Look for Piexeos to market lead in this area.\n\n<h4>4. Use of crypto at society’s most critical base levels.</h4>\nDistributed Ledger Technology adoption must have two components in order to gain mass adoption. First, it must be used by our major industrial markets. Second, the DLT technology used by industry must be accessible to the general public. The public ledger blockchain that wins must incorporate a layer of privacy so industry can protect itself from competition. Multi-national entities must also protect itself from unreasonable government enforcement until regulators capitulate to the inevitable advancements and advantages of using DLT systems. How can we measure success? Many articles that go unnoticed by most in the crypto space may provide the most important indicators. Articles about nations opening blockchain controlled ports, DLT powerplants, IOT projects utilizing blockchain, majors like Amazon and Alibaba integrations, farmers, ranchers, and miners implementations are all indicators. Success of Puerto Rico.</h4>\nHurricane Maria was awful. Devastating the island and revealing many vulnerabilities of the infrastructure and government agencies. Many forget Puerto Rico’s economic struggles before Hurricane Maria. Puerto Rico’s political elites mismanaged PR resources and aid for many years. After 1998’s Hurricane Georges roared through PR, much more aid and attention was given to PR for development and prosperity. However, after almost two decades, local agencies, who are on the front-lines and knows PR needs best for hurricane prep and relief, were caught flat-footed again as Maria wrote another chapter of death and devastation on the island. This effort will enable the local citizenry to formulate their own plans in case of a major tropical storm. They will build stronger homes, create energy micro-grids, and have a stronger voice to petition their government for more drainage, clean water and shelter options. In addition, my hopes are for Puerto Ricans to establish their own diverse business base from new entrepreneurs. Keeping impediments out means, keeping low tax rates in place and removing entrenched legacy government-sponsored cronyism, from D.C. to San Juan. Success of Puerto Rico can model the success in places such as Venezuela, Haiti, Greece, underground China, Colombia, Turkey, Cambodia, underground Russia, Cuba and many sub-Sahara African countries.\n\n<h4>2. In addition to being a personified bridge between East and West cultures, CZ’s business acumen draws the best financial minds from all over the world.  Binance is an ICO success story of a $15 million raise from July 2017 that only took 2 weeks. Since, CZ responsibly leveraged every dollar of the raise. Forget the 22,000 percent increase ($0.10 to $22) in token value in its first 6 months, Binance performed as the most secure, responsive and dynamic cryptocurrency exchange. With incentives from discount trading using the BNB token, to generous referral programs, and incubation for lifting other projects via Bianance Labs, CZ proves over and over again a deep knowledge of best practices in this new crypto environment. CZ’s savviness also proves valuable for what regulators will impose. He foresaw the China crypto crackdown and moved his headquarters from China to Japan. CZ also talks to crypto friendly nations like Malta about establishing an official office location, but he’s also smart enough to keep other servers and office locations secret around the world. Even more, CZ spoke of a decentralized bank and a decentralized exchange (DEX) version of Binance for over a year now. The final iteration of the DEX may occur in 2019 as “Binance Chain”. The DEX will build on Bianance’s own blockchain mainnet. With a healthy track record of other decentralized exchanges’ failures and successes, CZ can lead the charge for true censorship resistant free trade. If this DEX also include fiat onramps, even for U.S. citizens, it’s a distant 2nd as the best hope for every other exchange in the ecosystem.\n\n<h4>1.       "body": "The key to political understanding is placing yourself in the other person’s shoes and walk the paths they’ve trodden.\n\nAs I gained my political ideology footing throughout the 2000’s, I was always perplexed by the adamant, passion-filled arguments from proponents of the environment.  Just as any other matter, I knew a spectrum existed that included the most extreme views who were advocating environmental issues to push a larger agenda, and there were sincere people who truly wanted a better environment with less pollution.\n \nThe extremist characterizations of those who opposed them never bothered me.  I knew the people I voted for were not pushing for more polluted drinking water, dirty air, or killing every living animal into extinction.  However, I wanted to discover why and how the environmental movement gained such traction in the heart and minds of so many.\nAlso, how bureaucracies gained so much power in certain areas that they could make statements such as this, \"We've always been pushing the limits to find out where we can go,\" the chairman of the South Coast district, William Burke, said in a 2005 interview. \"Does that aggravate people? Yes. Does it get things done? Yes\".\n\nSo, California is an ideal place to start for environmental advocacy movements.\n![LA 1985.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmYEUTyXKhEU7HHc8yZon19NuqGnsoYgPwunJ5j3kVTC2z/LA%201985.jpg)\n\nDigging through the archives of Los Angeles, I realized the problem of smog goes back to the early 20th century. Since that point, many scientists and local universities were working on analyzing air particulates and attempting to find ways to clear the air.\nAccording to the [American Center’s History of the Modern Environmental Movement in America](https://photos.state.gov/libraries/mumbai/498320/fernandesma/June_2012_001.pdf), by Erin L. Gordan, the modern day environmental movement began in the late 1960’s.  \nSo, two generations of Californians grew up under the periodic cloud of pollution. Since rainfall is rare in southern California, particulates tend to linger in the air longer.\nCalifornia’s topography also contributes, the shape of the valley nested between mountains that traps many natural elements in addition to the products emitted by the many humans in the region.  This is why many people described the cloud as a cloud of ash in the early days because volcanos and forest fires would produce a similar effect.  On some days, temperature inversions (air closer to the ground becomes cooler than the air above) acts as a lid that traps pollutants close to the ground with no vertical mixing and thus no dispersion of pollutants.\nOther areas of the nation were experiencing the full effects of neglect and pollution in the nation.  This is why the iconic fiction book, The Great Gatsby, described an area as, “the valley of ashes”.  This place in the book mirrors the real industrial area of Queens between West Egg and Manhattan.  The “ash” is really grayness caused by dust and smoke from nearby factories, trains, and other transport vehicles. When I visited the area in 2017, locals told me of their experiences as children with the lake being so polluted, that discolored water stood still and some areas would not freeze during normal freezing periods.  Feeding into Lake Erie, the Cuyahoga River fires from pollution is the lone culprit for ushering in the Clean Water Act.  The Cuyahoga River has caught fire a total of 13 times dating back to 1868. But the fire in 1969, helped spur action that ultimately led to the passage of the Clean Water Act in 1972.\nhttps://youtu.be/nlHiaZFvcXA\nThese and many other examples date back to Chicago passing the first \"Smoke Control\" law in 1881.  We know about the pollution soot of Pittsburg's steel factories to Kansas City's industrial bellows , to the poisoning of Somerville, Texas town by their “tie plant”, with lawsuits issued as recent as 2006*<sup>1</sup>.  \n\nRemembering the past and how certain issues became national issues is important to know certain groups' motivations.  I will take the noble aspects of the environmental arguments and advocate for sane policies to generate a balance of economic vibrancy and environmental conservation.  \nAlthough I continue to honor the great oil & gas industry for this nation’s prosperity, security, and overall ability to live with many of the modern conveniences we enjoy daily, I also recognize free market competition for better, cleaner, cheaper and more efficiencies  wins the day. \n \nThe automobile industry is a perfect case for allowing the best to win freely.  I’m cheering for the American made all electric Teslas to be successful while also appreciating the great advances our automobile industry made with the internal combustible engine. So, at this point in history, we can advocate for all forms of technological advances.  Due to our better awareness and the transparency measurement possibilities of industrial equipment down to automobiles.  Companies that make the effort to capture and properly dispose of toxic waste should be incentivized not only with dodging fines, but also social or monetary credits. Street merchants!  The first target  whom we can convince to adapt the new crypto-transaction way.\n\nHowever, fragmented end-users, fringe consumers, and mom & pop retailers are not the primary drivers for society’s GDP.  \n\nIf cryptocurrency and its underlying technology, the blockchain, are to help the average citizen’s wealth formation, protection, and purchasing power, then focus on the other three drivers of any economy, beyond personal consumption, is a must:\n\n1. Business Investment\n2. Net Exports\n3. This in turn will make the transition to consumer facing payments seamless.\n\nBecause multi-national companies keep an abundance of funds over-seas anyway, storing a cryptocurrency outside its home national boundaries and inside crypto-friendly jurisdictions, is not a large step for corporations to take.\n\nBeyond blood diamonds, every rare metal mining operation is concerned about forgery, theft, black markets, and hacked databases. The blockchain will solidify their trust amongst their business partners and margins can increase with surety of source.
