Most of these strategies involve quietly manipulating the system, so in just about any Western-style democracy, they could be retrofitted to work.       "body": "I've noticed that the war rhetoric has been ratcheting up significantly lately. I've also noticed that there are polls starting to come out now showing a large percentage of respondents in agreement that North Korea is an imminent threat. It doesn't matter where you go to try to escape all this crap, there always seems to be somebody within ear shot that has a comment about events as they  are unfolding today in the world around us. Comments I can find just about word for word on any news stream found on TV or the local and national papers.\n\nThe one thing I never seem to hear from anybody are logical discussions as to why. If you have read my blurbs, I have posed that query in one of my posts earlier. The amount of fear that is being promoted via the main stream media just never seems to be questioned, it is only accepted. Hence the war on alternative news sites. There was a certain officer in the nazi ss hierarchy, I think his name was Goebels, who stated that if you tell a lie often enough it will come to be believed. I am inclined to believe that strategy is now in play and has been for quite some time.\n\nHonestly, are people really that gullible to actually think that North Korea can launch an ICBM from halfway around the world and hit any city in the continental US? If we all sat back and did nothing and just watched it come in fed live on your favorite news channel then yea, it is certainly possible. Are the people being de-sensitized for such an event? I believe so. Are people falling for all this crap, I don't think so, I know so.\n\nI hear scary things from these talking heads who manipulate these polls and say things like 'a large percentage of the population think we should strike first' and on and on. Repetition and manipulation of the mindless to come to that conclusion. It just seems to be pounded out at you brought to you live 'every hour on the hour'. Out of all these polls, that say 19 out of 20, or based on our numbers that is 75 or 80 or whatever percentage are in agreement of... that's funny because I don't ever recall being contacted to participate in any of these polls, however I do recall a couple of calls that, I suspect, pre-screened me from being excluded and actively participating in them. I laugh when these pollsters say that these numbers were based on random results, like they plucked these people out of thin air, random, my ass.\n\nWhat happens when it is time to reap what we sow? Can anybody read between the lines anymore? Is war simply to be accepted because the polls of the brain dead some how justify it? And it's not just North Korea, Iran is an issue, Russia, China. For crying out loud, Yemen and Venezuela (being the super powers they are) are now in  the sights of the powers that be. Doesn't anybody even realize that the US alone has over 200,000 military personnel around the world with some 177 bases and more coming on-line now by the day? Still think you still live in a democracy? Do you even know what it means? I guess you are an expert if you say that you are allowed to vote.\n\nHave the roles been reversed between what an electorate is and what an elected does? \nDoes anybody even know the difference or is it just me. \n\nGene aka 'Hummer'",

I mostly try to stay on top of events just to sort of re-calibrate my focus on what I need to do in order to be prepared for life's little hic-cups on the way.\n\nI'm not one to be surprised by events whether they are good or bad as they happen, I just kind of gather up all the info I can get my hands on and come to my own conclusions and I prepare accordingly.\n\nCase in point, being a resident of Alberta I have witnessed a few natural disasters un-fold during my time here. Just recently, a massive forest fire ripped through northern Alberta forcing the evacuation of Fort McMurray, a strategic and economic anchor that puts us as well as Canada on the map. A few years previous to that, another forest fire ripped through the Slave Lake area forcing the evacuation of that city as well. We have endured floods that kept a large chunk of Calgary under water for months.I could go on, point being is we get our share of crap also.\n\nThe reason why I am talking about this is because even after all the hardship that some people have to go through, a good majority just still don't get it. I watched a news program where they were interviewing people who were still at HOME in Ft. McMurray nervously glancing over their shoulder watching the flames coming that were now inside city limits, and saying \"I'll wait until they give the evacuation order!\"\nListening to interviews given by fire-fighters stating that some residents said that they still had to pack a few more things, when the order to evacuate went out. I won't get into how some people dodged a bullet, but the evolutionary process catches these types, sooner or later. I am amazed still to this day that there were not massive deaths on the highway (the only one) that was completely engulfed leaving literally hundreds of vehicles burnt to a crisp.\n\nCome on, really? The warnings to prepare to leave went out with ample time to get ready. Yet people sat on their decks sipping whatever cool-aid they were addicted to and did not take anything seriously. Same thing in Slave Lake, High River (flooding).\n\nI am curious to know how many people are prepared to leave in eastern Edmonton where that whole area is known as 'refinery row' where some of the worlds largest petro-chemical plants are located with a number of refineries also located there as well. I suspect that there are not too many. An unusually high rate of childhood asthma per capita, but the 'powers that be' say it is just a coincidence. (Another topic for future discussion).\n\nI have touched on this state of preparedness in conversations with some folks about having a bug-out bag ready to rock and roll just in case. It amazed me the response I got from a good majority of them. I have been called a dooms-dayer, and 'your a kook' and you're one of those types. Yes I like to be prepared because I don't like to be caught up in a catastrophe when I can, through preparation, down-grade the event as a necessary inconvenience. I just think being ahead of the wave is some what prudent.\n\nWell, I think I said enough about scenarios that should wake people up. What I don't understand (call me naive) is, despite the inherent concerns that surround us that can greatly and gravely affect us, how come the majority still don't seem to get it? It's funny how people can 'prepare' for a vacation a year in advance right down to the tiniest detail and yet cannot comprehend the logistics surrounding an event. I like the Steemit platform because I can express my views on a whole range of topics that I can sometimes be very passionate about. I have been a member of the Steemit community for a couple of months now however I just got started in doing some posts only yesterday, I have been side tracked with a bathroom renovation that took me a lot longer that anticipated. I am not really here to make money or enhance my wealth, I only view that as a benefit or bonus. I am here because I feel the community and the platform is a little more accepting of differences of opinion. I feel that this platform is more open-minded, so to speak.
